Many young men today are faced with great challenges when it comes to diving deeper into their faith. There are countless voices competing for our attention, including our friends, family, media, the culture, and the devil. It can often seem like in the myriad of voices we hear every day, that God’s voice is the softest and hardest to hear. Trying to navigate life in the midst of so much confusion and noise often seems impossible. The good news is that God desires to make himself known and to reveal his plan for your life!

Steeped in the truth presented in Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, IGNITE is a program that seeks to help you “unravel” the mystery of who you are, who God is, and to give you the tools you need to discover the unique plan that God has for you in your life.
Convinced that good formation fosters good discernment, this program is focused on human and spiritual formation, fraternity, and intentional mentoring.

The Second Vatican Council states, “Christ, the final Adam, by the revelation of the mystery of the Father and His love, fully reveals man to man himself and makes his supreme calling clear…” (Gaudium et Spes 22). Following the themes in this statement, the specific areas of formation we concentrate on are prayer, identity, and virtue (principally charity & chastity). We focus on charity and chastity because “the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being” is to love (CCC 1604). “Love is man’s origin. Love is his constant calling. Love is his fulfillment in heaven.” (Roman Missal, Eucharistic Prayer for Marriage III). Love is our ‘supreme calling’. Because “the light of discernment… is born in charity” (St Catherine of Siena), and because “only the chaste man…[is] capable of true love” (Saint John Paul II), we feel that it is essential to include these elements of formation into a program where discernment can flourish.

Some questions that we dive into together are:

  • What do I want? What does GOD want? Can these two desires be the same?
  • What does a relationship with GOD really look like? How can I hear His voice?
  • How do I know if GOD is inviting me to marriage, priesthood, religious life?
  • How does a man prepare himself to love one woman until death?
  • How does a priest live out his masculinity as a celibate man?
  • Do I have the strength to love someone forever?
  • How can I really be happy?

If this sounds like something you desire, we encourage you to come to one of our meetings held in two different locations in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. There is no cost, great food, great brotherhood, and nothing to lose!
